Who are we?

We're a small, part-time operation — two people who grew up around wood and never got over it. For years we've been going by "Probus Plankers" and we've been milling all over Cornwall. Over that time our clients have varied hugely, from farmers and builders to designers, architects and furniture makers, all of which needed local timber with a known provenance. If you want something Cornish, we can help.

Why we don't import

Most Cornish merchants bring in the bulk of their stock. We don't — every board here was a tree in this county, and we can usually tell you which one.

“Milling a log for the first time means being the first person ever to see what's inside it — a pattern of grain that might have taken two hundred years to grow, and no one has laid eyes on until that cut. That's the moment that keeps us doing this.”

Come and see the timber

We'd rather you walked the stacks and picked your own boards than ordered off a spec sheet. Let us know when you're coming and we'll make sure we can pull out whichever boards you'd like to see.

Visiting is strictly by appointment only. We operate on a working farm and there is no public access, so please send us a message and we'll arrange a time.
